The CBD has a history of uses and applications for having great properties dating back to 4000 BC in Eastern culture. It has long been a popular natural remedy for providing a wide variety of uses in the field of medicine, nutrition, and cosmetics, which is why it is listed as a wonderful multi-purpose ingredient.

It is interesting how CBD or cannabidiol (subspecies of the cannabis sativa plant) has reached western culture having an exceptional reception in the beauty industry and more specifically, in products for daily skincare. Being the cannabidiol close family of cannabis, on some occasions, it has generated controversy in the medical field, in the public and about the use within the cosmetic industry.

But, concerning the comparison or relationship that both compounds may have, you can rest assured, even the skeptics have read and expanded the information about cannabidiol and have come to recognize the benefits that this can have on health in general, including the skin. CBD is not the same compound and does not generate the same effects as cannabis, the latter is a psychoactive agent which is marginalized by some and loved by others but, in the field of beauty products, cannabis is not used.

In 2019, CBD has been implemented as a compound that tops the list of active ingredients in various facial care formulas and other products that provide wonderful skin benefits. Therefore, it is a must ingredient that you should not overlook in this 2019, you must dare to try it, I assure you that you will not regret using it and your skin will appreciate it.

Beauty houses and cosmetic products do not use cannabis, the ideal active ingredient for these cases is cannabidiol. Both are compounds with important differences that I will present below.

Cannabis or marijuana is one of the varieties of the Cannabis Sativa plant and is listed as a psychoactive compound that contains THC or tetrahydrocannabinol, which is what causes the effect of relaxation, drowsiness or "high" in the body after use.

On the other hand, we have cannabidiol or CBD, which is an active ingredient highly used in medicine and currently in the cosmetic industry because of the magnificent properties and benefits it has and has been taken into account to be part of skincare products. It is a legal component and has no psychoactive effects on the body, unlike THC or tetrahydrocannabinol.

Excellent benefits and properties:

CBD can be used topically to treat skin problems. Studies and research show that cannabidiol has a high potential to treat skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis by stimulating cell regeneration and abnormal cell death, resulting in the replacement of dry, roughly textured skin by a regenerated and hydrated skin.

1. Suitable for all skin types

Being an active component available to be extracted from the cannabis sativa plant, it gives it a natural origin, which contains anti-inflammatory, moisturizing, relaxing, soothing, antiseptic, anti-acne, and antioxidant action, all thanks to the essential fatty acids and 18 amino acids which, are suitable for various skin conditions and types (normal, dry, mixed, oily, sensitive) and also, no matter your skin color! This is an ideal ingredient to be used and tested by everyone.

2. Star ingredient in cosmetic products

The daily facial routine increasingly implements more products to meet the needs of the skin and provide the comfort you need to look and feel healthy.

The amount of products that have included CBD as an active ingredient is incredible! To name a few we have facial cleansers, scrubs, tonics, moisturizers, an elixir for the eye contour, serums, booster, purifying masks and moisturizing facial masks. It is usual to see the combination of CBD with other natural or synthetic ingredients that enhance the positive results on the skin.

3. Non-comedogenic active ingredient

This property gives it the advantage of being able to be included as an active ingredient to help oily or combination skin with a tendency to acne because it will not clog pores and prevent the appearance of pimples.

4. Essential ally for dry skin

Dry skin is a type of skin that usually causes problems because of the feeling of discomfort it produces on the skin. This factor combined with dull skin, dry texture, tightness, redness due to sensitivity and irritation and signs of peeling affects the person and is also unhealthy and unsightly. With the application of CBD, you will notice how the skin manages to hydrate deeply to make it look juicy and with a unique shine.

5. High moisturizing power

Moisture regulation is carried out through a layer of the epidermis called the stratum corneum. The stratum corneum consists of skin cells held together by lipids. Our skin cells are dying continuously but are replaced by new ones. This cycle is controlled by the corneal layer and the key to the integrity of this barrier is moisture, specifically keeping water inside the skin.

To perform this function, it is necessary to apply a humectant (something that attracts or retains water) and this is where the CBD action comes in. Containing essential fatty acids, including omega 3, omega 6, gamma-linolenic acid and stearidonic acid, helps maintain natural moisture and gives the skin a unique sensation of hydration. It contains the ideal ratio of omega 6 and omega 3 based on the cellular needs of our skin. Essential fatty acids have been tested to provide a healthy moisture balance and play a preventive role in premature skin aging.

The skin that lacks essential fatty acids allows a greater loss of moisture, causing dryness and other skin problems such as eczema, psoriasis, redness, peeling, feeling of tightness, cracking, premature aging and loss of elasticity.

6. Oily skin? I have the perfect solution

CBD is suitable for certain dermatological conditions and dry skin. But also, because it contains essential fatty acids, it has the power to act directly on the sebaceous glands of the skin and regulate the production of sebum or natural oils (sebum-regulating action) that in excess, causes an oily appearance, can cause pore obstruction resulting in the appearance of acne. Use CBD on your skin and you will see how the excess brightness disappears and you can keep the pimples away from your skin.

7. Powerful antioxidant

CBD offers protection against external factors that produce negative effects on the skin. The antioxidant properties help to:

- Reduce harmful toxins that accumulate on the surface of the skin causing a tired and congested appearance.

- Improves the tone (color), so it helps prevent or reduce dark spots due to age or prolonged sun exposure without protection.

- It forms a protective layer that helps protect the skin against free radicals and sun rays to prevent damage and diseases related to excessive sun exposure such as premature aging.

Also, CBD contains vitamin E and phenolic acid, making it the perfect antioxidant for your skin.

8. Powerful anti-inflammatory

CBD has anti-inflammatory properties and our skin has cannabinol receptor cells willing to absorb it, therefore it is an advantage to have products containing CBD in our daily care routine. The topical application of this compound will help improve dermatological conditions such as acne, eczema, and psoriasis helping to deflate the skin and give it a healthy appearance.

9. Calm and relax your skin

Irritations and inflammations in the skin are produced in most cases by external factors or skin diseases that damage the corneal layer (superficial layer of the epidermis) and the skin barrier, causing an imbalance in the regular functions of the skin.

To get normal skin functioning again, you can choose to use CBD. It is the perfect ingredient due to the anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties that promise to decongest and relieve irritations and inflammations. In this way, you can enjoy smooth and imperfections-free skin.
